I'm sick and tired of religious asshats trying to push their bible bullshit down my goddamn throat! The moment they catch a whiff of something 'sinful', they jump on you like the Virgin Mary on a cheese sandwich and exclaim that you'll burn in hell and blah blah blah. Whatever happened to turning the other cheek? Whatever happened to compassion? Whatever happened to thou shall not judge? I guess the benefit of being a Christian is that you get to pick and choose what parts of the fairy tale they want to believe. I guess that’s also why there's a forgiveness clause; I could shove a cross up my ass and sodomize dead baby bunnies in a church pew while moaning "Buddha is better! Buddha is better!" and STILL go to heaven by accepting Jesus 'sticky buns' Christ back into my life. If they want to debate they should at least TRY to back their shit up instead of changing the subject or walking away in a huff when you stump them. Here's the last part of a debate I had with a woman (Old Ugly Bitch) who was preaching nonsense to me today: Me: What happens to children when they die? Are they judged just as adults would be? OUB: They just go to straight to heaven. Me: Always? OUB: Yes. Me: Then why don't you just kill all children? You'd be helping them AND the church. OUB: You can't do that! Me: Why not? OUB: <stomps away angrily> BAH!

Then maybe I just have really bad luck because most of the christians I've met are the fire&brimstone variety.

LOL, Don relax... If you re-read your argument you would have walked away in a huff... saying that killing all children would help them is not a way to debate in a religious argument. In her defense, you saying why not probably just made her think that you were some silly Devil Worshipping Kid trying to dump on her relgion as you feel she was doing to you. And that part of the argument doesn't sound like she was forcing anything... you asked... so you brought it on to yourself. Hun, I'm not picking or saying you are wrong, but I always here how much Christianity is being shoved down people's throats, but a lot of the time, from what I have seen, it's because they are asked a question regarding their religion. And usually it's by someone who wants to debunk their religion.

I didn't start it!! she approached ME! I don't remember the whole thing so I only put down the last part.
and it does make a lot of sense... if children always go to heaven when they die, why let them age and possibly go to hell? I just think its a flaw in the story.

Well, if we killed children to keep them from aging and going to hell, wouldn't that take away their free will and choice?? So it's not really a hole in the story. We were given free will, to chose what we will, children however don't understand that, and some religionseven have an "age of understanding" before they can be baptised, or in others their confirmation. It's to make sure that they understand the consequences of their choices. Taking away their choice before they even know it, would be taking away their free will, and that is why we cannot just go around knocking off kids so they could go to heaven.
You also mentioned about being a horrible person and still being able to go to Heaven by accepting Jesus as your personal savior yadda yadda yadda... this is true... in their religious beliefs anyway, if you are truly repentant, and accept Jesus as your personal saviour you will go to Heaven, no matter how horrendous a person you were in your life, all the way up till the second you die.
But there's a saying... If you wait till the 12th hour, you will die in the 11th.

Try this next time Null dont even let them get started. The minute someone says" you know you can be saved if you except Jesus as your savior" Smile and say well aint that sweet and turn around and walk away.confrontation avoided and sometimes yes I'll agree confrontation is all they are looking for but if you take the air from their sails then their boat is stuck in the water. :PPEACE OUT

Elix: There is no free-will in Christianity; they say there is, but 'gods plan' indicates fate. Fate means that everything we can and will do has already been pre-determined and thus, we are helpless to prevent them from occurring. Sooooo, 'god' already has already planned for me to be a bisexual atheist who thinks his followers are full of magic horse shit (edit: And I never once condoned the murdering of children...I was just posing a hypothetical to challenge her beliefs) Backlash: It's just way too tempting to fight it. I've never been able to just walk away from situations like that (especially when they make assumptions about you based only on what you read in the grocery line)... It's just waaayyy too much fun! Of course, I get very pissed off during such events, but upon reflection, I always enjoy myself.

Well Don if you get pissed off in the onslaught of things your not doing it right .lol i mean to say what you wanna say is fine if you do it in a very specific type of way with crispness and clarity .meaning get your point across fast and dont back pedal or show extreme emotion one way or the other ... if you present your debate.thoughts.comments and then listen to the reply and dont say a word and come off very not affected and calm cool and collected i guarantee you not giving a second reply and showing it didnt affect you will leave them waiting and wondering and in the circumstance of it all your behavior and lack of show of emotions might end up a.)making them think long and hard bout what they said in retort or it might make them mad cause what they said didnt raise your dander or piss you off .therefor you get the last laugh lol

See now what I would have said after her remark about all children go directly to heaven no matter what... Well, what about those children who kill other children? What about them? Do they go directly to heaven too? I'd like to see what her reaction would have been to that. LOL

I do understand your frustrations, a lot of Religious( I do not want to single out christains because there are good and bad in all faiths) people will not listen to anything contradictory to their belief system and anything you can say to them no matter how true or convincing will only be twisted and used against you. Since I have moved to Topeka, Kansas , I have found this even more true, being accosted with picketers from Fred Phelps crew. If you don't know who he is check out godhatesfags.com , he is out here picketing churches, funerals and even the library on a daily basis. I do my best to not say anything because it just seems to give them more of an excuse. I believe that they will get theirs sooner or later and hopefully sooner.

It's people like Phelps that boil my blood. I'd wish death on him if it were not for the fact that he would achieve mayrter status.
All I can hope is that he contracts some horrible deasease (preferably AIDS) and die silently in his sleep.

i have found this to work; smile and say thank you. I grew up in a mormon church and children were baptized at age 8. I have since come into my own sense of spirituality.

It's sooo much more tempting to make a snide comment, or awkwardly stare at them whilst licking my lips.
