>:(Am I the only person here that deals with people thinking they are gothic when in fact they are almost the complete oppisite, I got no problem with gothic people, my wife is about as gothic as a person can get, but I am not. nor have I ever been. I am a metal head, rivet head, head banger you get the idea. What do I have to do to get it into people thick friggin skulls that I am not what they assume that I am.

Well Patrick, metal heads and goths enjoy some of the same lifestyle trappings. That's why people jump to conclusions.

Well to be honest it sounds as if you are dealing with mental midgets who by the sound of it are just to damn lazy to do their research.I to am a metal head however I tend to wear cowboy boots wranglers sleeveless t's or flannel and I cut off all 32 inches of my hair 2 years ago.You would also be hard pressed to find me without either my cowboy hat or UT ball cap. Most good old boys seem to like to think they can pigeon hold me as one of them until I pull up with MOTOR HEAD blaring from my speakers.People going back as far as time it's self love to think they can judge a book by its cover which simply isnt true.Dont get me wrong I do have a soft spot for rednecks hell I consider myself one but not your garden variety type.Because I'm a musician I've come to learn to appriciate all things different than me but thats just me.I guess what I'm trying to get across is as long as you know who you are inside and out and are comfortable with it then who gives a tinkers damn what others think.
PEACE OUT

People don't know what to make of me. One moment you may catch me crusing the streets in an 87 red FireBird T-top, purple hair and brandishing tattoos, while listening to the O' Brother Where art thou soundtrack, blasting " Down by the River", a very Christian, southern Gospel song, and the next, you may see me in a mini van, wearing an office pant suite, with 2 kids in toe, listening to Exploited or Agnostic Front. I wouldn't worry so much what people think who or what I am, when asked, I'm a non-comformist.

Glad I could be of help. I'ts important to always remember that when it comes to old sayings, that more times than not there's a shit load of truth in them.So like one of the classics. "To thine own self be true" By the way Elix I happen to love the whole o'Brother soundtrack and the movie was damn funny ( We thought you were a toad ) ;D PEACE OUT ;D P.S. Blue Grass music is just Heavy Metal without the Jack Danials

O'Brother rocks... but... I hate to even mention it... on the sound track they don't have the KKK march song... and I know this sounds SOOOO bad, but it was actualyll pretty cool. Eep, I hope I don't get shot!! <48 hee hee>

i think i could confuse a lot of people. I grew up listening to "country" The Outlaws, Johnny Cash kind. my preteen yrs i got into Motley Crue, Poison, Ozzy, Madonna, Aerosmith. Around being legal it was Dio, Metallica, The Doors, Travis Titt, Reba McEntire, Faith Hill. I still like it all, now i've even give some rap a chance Eminem and discovered others that have been around like; Live, Tantric, Dope, Rush, Cradle of Filth, Kamelot........ Ya get the point i'm sure. Usually it depends on my mood, but usually i like something hard with a good drum beat. I'm known for driving a mini van with precious cargo.

It's all about labeling and what is fashionable. I am 41 years old and when I was younger I was and still am into punk and metal music. When going to shows or just everyday life-people would label me as this or that. They still do.
Goth is a way of life as is paganism or what have you.
I am also a photographer- who loves taking pics of cemetery statuary. People have labeled me gothic.
I say ok, whatever.
