I'm looking for new reading material to fill boring winter days. Can anyone recommend a book or two?

*bump* People need poolside reading, too! *grins* The Kushiel's Dart trilogy is nice. I own the first, going to get the other two with the giftcard my roommates got me for my birthday. A friend who's in the dominatrix industry said that it helped her understand some of her clients better. That, and the heroine rocks! She writes for the younger crowd, but Tamora Pierce has a duet out. Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen. Very well written. If you want backstory, though, read her other Tortallan series: The Lioness quartet, The Immortals quartet, and the Protector of the Small quartet. She links her stories together very well. The heroine from the first series plays a minor role in the second. The heroines from series one and two pop up in three... and in the Tricksters duet, the heroine is the daughter of Heroine #1, adopted neice of heroine #2, and jealous of heroine #3. *grins* But basically, The Trickster's story is about a trickster god sneaking his way back into power after the Major God and Goddess kick him out of his land and make him a minor diety. Craziness and crows ensue. ^_^

Have you read anything by Tamara Thorne? Start with Haunted, it's really good. Candle Bay is great too, it's about a hotel run by a family of vampires. Of all of her novels my favorite is called Bad Things.

My favorite Dragonlance book was Kendermore. I should have been born a kender. or a gnome. or a kender with a gnome grafted onto his back. or a gnome inside a giant mechanical kender named fizzlestick. eh, I don't care as long as I get magicked occasionaly... >;^} Joshua
