Ok, so I went to the Fangoria Weekend of Horror this past weekend and OMG it was so cool!!
The convention itself was ok, but what happened was the coolest thing EVER!!!! And yes I have pics...
So I got there when registration began at like 10 am. There were a lot of vendors! I bought a 1983 concert video from the Misfits Earth AD tour. It sound is crappy the video is worst, but it was a walk down memory lane
James got the illusive Star Wars Holiday Special, and yes there is a reason why Lucas NEVER released it...ee-gads it's awful!!!!
And then we got a DVD loaded with a bunch of lost and deleted video clips from Star Wars a New Hope... but that's not the cool thing nor why I went there...
AS I wondered through the con, the first person I spotted was Tom Savini!! So I got in line to get his autograph. When I got up to him, he signed a picture for me and I shook his hand, and presented him with, yes you guessed, the infamous Fast Zombies Suck(patent pending), bumper sticker. He got a kick out of it, and looked at me and said, "this is so true".
It was pretty cool. After seeing Savini, we went to get something to drink. As I was sitting there I realized, CRAP I should have gotten Tom Savini to hold up my sticker fo a picture...
As I sat there talking about it, we strated talking to this guy who then querried about my sticker? So I showed him the sticker, and he asked me where he could buy one at. I explained that I just had them made and was giving them to certain people.
He then handed me his business card and told me to e-mail him and let him know when I get more, he would like to buy one!
Turns out, he's a independent film maker!
So anyway, I hurry off to find Savini, and I went up to his table and said," I was here about an hour ago, and I gave you a bumper sticker. Do you still have it?"
He said yes, and pulled it out of his brief case... which I thought was awesome because he actually kept it instead of tossing it to the floor!
Well he held up the sticker for a pic, it was very cool!
Ok so now it's FINALLY 2pm and the people that I came to see are finally going to be at the panel.
There is a movie coming out called Slither, James Gunn wrote it, and there's a pretty well known cast, including the captain of the Firefly in the Serenity movie, who by the way is the best guy ever, and pretty damn HOT if you ask me LOL!!! And the receptionist from the series the Office.
Well when James Gunn came in stage, (he did DOD04), I yelled out Fast Zombies Suck!!!!
Now James says I have this voice that carries over and cuts through other peoples' voices, that I tend to hot a frequency higher than normal humans...
Well I guess I did it again, because over a couple 100 people yelling for James Gunn, he heard me yell out Fast Zombies Suck! LOL, I'll admit he gave me a little shit, at first, but you know what??
He repeated it while on stage when someone referenced DOD04, and the serenity guy repeated it a couple of time too.
People kept turning around looking at me every time it was mentioned , it was so cool.
Anyway, unbeknownst to me, Romero HATES fast zombies and James Gunn thought I was heckling him by yelling out that his fast zombies were uncool...
Until we went back stage to meet them, and I was able to give my explanation that the reason why they suck isn't because they're not cool, but because they hard to kill!!
At that point he was like OHHHH I see! So he accepted one of my bumper stickers, and he even signed another!
Ok it gets better...but first
Next on stage was Max Brooks, the author of The Zombie Survival Guy. Agaim James teased me because he said I aggresively persued the poor guy for not giving me a clear answer when I asked him about solanum.
To make the whole fiasco short... it was cool to pick nightshade
Well I got to go back stage and meet him as well, and also gave him a sticker, which he to really liked and said it was cool... then he took my thesis and said he would look over it!!
He signed my book, To the Whitlocks, one family that will survive LOL!!!!
Oh by the way, there's a sequel to the book called WWZ
Ok so now it's time for Romero... after 3 hours of waiting in line tomeet him, we finally head up to the table. By the way Romero is a really great guy, very personable, and loves all his fans.
Any way, I presented him with a bumper sticker. At first he didn't realize that this was for him... when I gave it to him he said, "OMG this is the greatest, Where can I get one?" I explained that I made them and that this was for him as a thank you for basically creating the whole genre.
He loved it, I mean abosolutely loved it, to the point that he wanted my e-mail address to order 25,000 of them!!!
It was amazing! I took a picture of me, my son and Romero holding the sticker, and he wants me to send it to him so it can be posted on the Romero website.
I have his marketing guy's e-mail and phone number, they want to order a case of these stickers!!
Hemade such a big deal that people were asking where they could one...
It was just really awesome. Tonight I'm going to be working on uploading the pics...
