I've been talking with friends about the subject of vampire/donor relationships of late, and thought I'd bring the core of the argument to this table and see what everyone has to say. Many I have spoken with are best friends, if not lovers with their donors, while other vamps tend to maintain only a superficial relationship in order to keep their donor. I think a strong bond is important for this sort of arrangement and that trust and comfort with your donor is extremely critical. What do you think? What is the best situation in which a donor/vampire relationship can flourish?

well, for me back when I was donating, I only gave to close friends who were not able to get to their normal donor.
I didn't need anything else in return except remain friends. A person can't have too many friends ;D

Well I honestly like having my mate as my donor and I am willing to be a donor for my mate also. I feel the connection is stronger and it makes it easier for me to feed. But if you cant find someone like that, I say a close friend works as well. When I didn't have a permanent donor, I had close friends as donors.

I prefer the being friends with your vamp way. If sexual tension arises, you can find an easy way to rid yourself of it. Otherwise, if you're just friends, but damned close friends, a little spat won't get in the way of your relationship, where if you're lovers, it can complicate things, I think. *shrugs* JMHO

being a donor, for me is a special connection, for me it's something sacred, but due to my complexity and an unusual blood type, only those and such as those i would donor for.
