I don't see a true gothic society anymore. I honestly feel that gothic has bleed out into other subcultures. Anyone else feel that the true goth is a thing of the past?

I think it all got mixed up in the alternative lifestyle. I felt the same with punk. I remember dying my hair purple and wearing torn up fishnets was odd. Now it seems to be mainstream and all the fashions just get all mingled up. With places like wUrk and HotTopic, goth, punk, hard core, it's cool now and those styles make their appearence in so many other places.
Oh well, we just have to remember, our ridicule paved the way for the teens to express themselves openly LOL!

I'm about 80 miles outside of DC and I seldom see what one might refer to as a true goth anymore. They seem to have spread themselves so thin and branched off into other cultures I'm almost afraid to ask people who are dressed in all black with black nail polish if they are goth for fear I will offend.
