Why is it so hard for parents to understand that being goth isn't necessarily a dangerous thing?

Blame the media.
Besides, I should note that it's not always true. That's not an attitude I have, and I have kids.
I know a goth couple with a son who's also a goth, and he's in his 20s now, lol.

I guess it's the fact that back when parents were kids, they really had nothing of the sort, I guess. Gothism started a couple of decades ago. So it is kinda hard to understand the reason behind gothic attitudes and dresscodes. I am half gothic, half depressionistic. I seriously don't care what my parents think I am, I could be nothing but the devil to them, but I am in truth my own person, and I follow my style.
