I posted this in the SL OK/TX Group, but I thought it might be good to post it here too. If anyone is interested in this and needs more information, let me know by emailing me, responding here, or responding on the SL OK/TX Yahoo! Group.

Hey guys!
Now that the hot days of the summer are mostly over, I thought it
might be fun to do another gathering in OKC.
I'm going to set this tenatively for Sunday, October 8th, at about 2pm in the afternoon. Since the park setting worked well last time, we'll have it at the Midwest City Regional Park again. We'll meet in the same place as last time, which is the entrance to the park that is just West of Woodside Drive, on Reno Avenue. (See the picture in the photos area of the group - Photo Albums > Directions and Maps.)
Again, we'll do this pot luck style. If everyone that comes can bring
something (chips/cokes/other food), we should be able to have, at the least, a nice afternoon snack. Unfortunately, unless circumstances change for me between now and then, I won't be able to provide the burgers and hot dogs I did last time. I will, however, bring some sandwich stuff.
I encourage those who come to bring stuff that would be fun for the
group to do - frisbes, tarot cards, music (I will have a CD player
this time - but it won't play MP3s, so if you bring a CD, make sure
its not all MP3s), books you want to show others, and the like. Also,
this is a park, so there is play ground equipment for the kids near by (very nice, pretty new equipment at that).
Other things to keep in mind:
1. The City of Midwest City does not permit glass containers in the
park. This means if you want to drink, make sure your beverages are in plastic, cans, or some other non-glass material. Furthermore, I will not allow those underage to drink. The police department patrols the park pretty heavily, and I want to avoid any confrontation with them.
2. This is an 18 and older meeting. While I will allow those who
attend to bring their children under the age of 18 with them, I would prefer not to have non-family members come that are under the age of 18. That said, I understand that this is a public park, and I can not tell anyone to leave. However, I will not permit those under the age of 18 to participate in the event by limiting my contact with them, and encouraging others who attend to do the same. When I say this, I don't mean to be rude to those under 18, but the nature of our group requires me to ensure the safety of those under the age, and I will attempt to do that if I am able to.
3. In the case of rain, there are several pavilions located at the
park. The one our group will move to if it rains will be located
directly south of the planned meeting area. So, if it's raining, use
the same entrance, and drive to the south, around the center area, to the back. You'll see the pavilion there.
4. Finally, I remind everyone that this is a tenative date. I am
currently unemployed. If between now and then I get a job, I will not be able to guarntee that I can get off for the date in question. If
that happens, I will let you all know as soon as I know. Also, if
others who really want to attend have a problem with the date, I will consider rescheduling. But you have to let me know, and the sooner the better.
So, please come out and join us! Everyone enjoyed the meeting in
April, and I'm sure this one will be even more fun. I want people to
come, have a good time, and develop a dialoge/relationship with others in SL in the OKC area. Don't feel shy to come - we aren't here to judge you. This is going to be a laid back environment, and people can come and go as they please. I expect things to get underway for us around 2pm, and last a few hours - all dependant on those who attend. The park closes at sundown, so we'll have to be gone by then.
I look forward to meeting everyone! If you have any other questions, email me at the_vampiress_saffyre at hotmail dot com (I wrote it like that because Yahoo! doesn't like to display email addresses for some reason).
