Is there a special form of etiquette used when one is donating or receiving? I feel compelled to ask because someone is about to act as my donor, and honestly it's been a LONG time since anyone has done so. I'm primarily a sanguine vampire and due to lack of donors I've sort of taught myself to draw energy from crowds. I'm kind of nervous about this.

When I have a donor I try to make them and myself as comfortable as possible. Sometimes sitting on the floor facing each other or on the sofa. Candle light is far better than electric light(call me old fashion) Soft soothing music that you both enjoy is better for feeding. Calms both the vamp and the donor.
When I feed in less intimate situations I cut on their forearm or hand, the cuticle right above the nail is a good spot that bleeds well. But you need to make sure that they wash their hands well, using a nail brush. For me this cut doesn't hurt but then I am numb. I like to have some part of my body touching theirs, like my knee touching theirs.......it affords me the opportunity to feed psychically as well and I don't need to take as much blood that way.
Hope that helps

Very much so, thanks. My biggest fear is the actual cutting. They want me to do it because they are afraid of pain. I can cut safely, I've cut myself for practice, but I'm really afraid they'll jump and cause the wound to be more serious than need be. I may swipe some topical anesthetic gel from my mother's medical supplies. Any thoughts on that?

Very good idea on the anaesthetic... Especially if your mouth is going to directly touch the cut. I was about to say for you to have the donor cut themselves... This way they can't go back and say you assaulted them. But it's sweet that you're making sure you don't hurt them. Have relaxing music going in the background to distract them a little, and have them turn away before you cut. For some odd reason, it doesn't hurt as much as when you're watching. Another tip is to use a really sharp (disinfected) razor blade and make light cuts. That way you can't accidentally go too too deep.

I have a scalpel handle and a package of 150 individually wrapped sterile blades so that's no problem. I even practiced cutting an orange with it as my mother said they showed her how to do way back when in Nursing School. For some reason they had them cut and practice taking blood with oranges before anything. LOL. Now however, my friend has gotten cold feet and backed out so none of it matters. Of course I'm well prepared if another opportunity should present it's self in the future.

An orange? ? Not even going to ask. Sorry about the backing out. But yeah! Now you have practice, and you can say that you're totally prepared if it pops up again. Much Yayness!
