Does anyone ever heard of a type of Otherkin known as Otakukin?
From what I've heard so far they are a fringe group primarily based on the west coast. They believe they are human incarnations of anime characters from an alternate reality.

I haven't heard such a thing, but for some reason this 'new' kin group doesn't suprise me. Though most that into anamaie tend to fall in with the furries. Not all but most on account of their hard on for Niko or cat women

After reading this I went to find out more. Some of them describe/explain their views/beliefs in such a way that I completely get it. Yes it all sounds insane but consider all that you have come to accept as truth now, did some of it sound wacky to you years earlier? I don't discount peoples experiences or beliefs, even if I don't "get" it at the time...in a few years, who knows?

Oh, P.S., perhaps Dolly Parton is one? Sure would explain a lot!

They are thought to be similar to those in the furry community. But in every subculture there are always a few real kin lurking

Perhaps there is some truth to this, or it could be one radical who has led other junkies down his path. Every time I look into a mirror, I don't feel like I'm seeing a reflection, most the time I feel as if I'm looking into a mirrored realm/reality! And sometimes I could Swear I catch differences! (feels same as dejavu). I always believe that all forms of Kin, have a few real ones, and convice non-kin they are to be radical about it, off the edge so to say, with it. To make a level of disbelief in it by outsiders. A form of hiding in plain sight tactic.

I feel bad that my primary urge is to mock these people. I could definately however see one associating with an image that is more anime styled. I also could definately see this as a something that could attract real othekikn. I first found out about otherkin because I found some otherkin within a different fringe sort of group.

This is only my opinion but sometimes when i see a movie or a cartoon/anime. i sometimes wonder if there is a bit of truth to them. As human we are told we have imagination, but what if our subconscious is telling us of creatures that could possible exist and they are just chucking it up to imagination so maybe these people might see themselves as something that is close to an anime character. Not like any of the "creatures" or maybe a few who knows wrote a book saying what every creature looks like and what they are called, we don't always have those resources to look into.

I wonder pretty much the same thing though never speak of it. I'm sure there are a lot of creatures in the world that go undetected. My concern is that every time a new movie comes out with another fantasy creature some people jump to claim that their soul is of that creature when its impossible. An example would be the movie "Avatar". It was a great story and a beautiful movie...................but it was pure fantasy.
