If you were to leave tomorrow for another planet that may or may not be habitable, what would you take with you? And if you found intelligent life on this new planet, what would you tell them of your life here on earth?

Interesting.....hmmm... I would bring my toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant and plenty of books to read. You know....the essentials I'd also bring my significant other too. As for what I would tell them about life on Earth...well, life is life...it's a struggle up hill then a mad rush downhill to your death.

May or may not be habitable? Then I want a complete, self-contained recycling biosphere, lol. Actually, I would want to KNOW whether or not it was habitable before I got there...otherwise, I'm not going. If it were habitable, I'd bring the basics--essential tools that can be used to construct other tools. And lots and lots of books. Books, because relying on computers when you're starting from scratch would be unwise. Intelligent life--why, I'd do my best to tell them everything. And teach them the language and let them read the books.

I'd go to a planet near Alpha Centauri...
And take Strawberry ice cream. I read somewhere (can't remember the book) that explaining clairvoyance/audience was like trying to explain strawberry icecream to a person from Alpha Centauri. I'd want to know what it was like to do such! That, and I like strawberry icecream a lot.
