I have heard of the Leanan Sidhe as vampiric fae, though many debate their existence.Could there be vampiric Fae and not have them as Sidhe?
Some people debate that Unseelie doesn't exist, some associate it with a gaming term, a result of White Wolf and gaming, but I know it's the term has been around long before those games.
Opinions anyone?

Yes. the term "Sidhe" is specific to the Gaelic/Celtic upper class of fae. It refers, rather specifically, to the elves and other higher humanoid fae of the Celtic pantheon. Seeley and UnSeeley also are specifically Celtic in origin but do encompass the entirety of the "people under the hills" including such creatures as Red Caps and Pooka. The possible connection that the Unseeley Fae may be the origin of both therianthropes and the vampiric among humans, in my opinion, stems from the fact that the Unseely fae ARE the original shape changers of human "mythology" and it is well documented that, at least among the Germanic and Celtic peoples the fae stayed close after humans began living in their countries and did, indeed, intermarry into human society. That vampirism may have come into the human race through the fae I cite as evidenced by the fact that early Celtic contracts were all sealed in blood and there is evidence that this practise was learned by the early humans from their fae contacts/relations. However you note their origins, I'd like people to realize that whatever you may find of ancient mythology, "monsters" and other than human races in any gaming system is based, in fact, on REAL existant mythology. The gaming systems may change some pertinent facts to suit their games but the basic mythology of Dungeons and Dragons IS based on the real mythologies of the world. So, just because something is used in White Wolf or Dungeons and Dragons does not make it UNTRUE as a mythology only do you need to do your own research to see where the original mythology came from and what it meant.

My Answer The Leanan Sidhe have been misrepresented by human superstition. The Leanan (or Lhiannon) Sidhe are poetic muses of the Faerie. The fact that many humans are not strong enough to handle their burning nature is why they "burn out". Some people debate that Unseelie doesn't exist, some associate it with a gaming term, a result of White Wolf and gaming, but I know it's the term has been around long before those games. My Answer: The Unseelie and Seelie Court are particular to the Scottish Highlands and are far far older than any RPG idea...(I agree with Arwynn on this)

Does anyone know how to tell if someone is a leanan sidhe? I'm fairly certain I've been in the process of awakening for a while. I had some vampiric tendencies that do not fit with most things I've read about real vampires. I've been searching all over for information about what I could be and I found a description of sidhekin. The description of leanan sidhekin I found sounds like me. I'm not assuming or stating anything, I'm just looking for help.

It is said that there is only one Leanansidle and she would be irish. But this is simply one man's opinion.
Of course there is another vampiric fae; "The Glaistig". They are a scottish fae whose element is water. She appears as beautiful women but once you get up close you can see her animal parts. Horse and goats in particular are part of her make-up and see seems to have no control over shapeshifting them away. She is a complete misanthrope and humans should never seek her out.
She is most active at night
And folklore says that The Glaistig preys mostly on human males whom she appears to hate with a vengeance. But she has been known to be very tender and gentle to the elderly and towards children.
Her methods of killing males include blood-sucking in the manner of vampires
This information comes from "The Witches guide to Faery Folk" by Edwin McCoy
