Since the begining of September I have had the insatiable desire to nest as in,"To create and settle into a warm and secure refuge". The desire is so strong to clean out the garden, finish the canning, gather the last of the fruit and store it for winter, gather wood for heat and to secure a home for the winter. I have remarked about this to my roommates, who thought I was crazy before this. And all I can come up with is that its my therian side's natural and normal instinct that is playing out.
Has anyone experienced anything similar??

I've not so much as done the "nesting" thing, but I've been noticing that lately I seem to want to "pick up" things that are scattered around, like cleaning up but the lighter side of it. I know I'm weird LOL *hugs*

Lately since the temp around here is droping to around -38c. i have been feeling a little bit of an urge to curl up into a ball under the covers and not come out. Now normally i love the cold but this year ... i dont know i find the more i curl up and enjoy my coverd warmth the happyer i feel.

This type of nesting is human instinct too--humans do have instincts, contrary to what most people seem to believe. <G>
Autumn lends itself to stockpiling activity, putting on weight, mating...winter to hibernation...conserve your strength, in case you need it later, hole up somewhere warm where you don't have to burn energy to keep your body temperature up, and sleep a lot. It makes sense for any species that spends the winter somewhere that gets cold. I think we therian folks are simply more aware of our instinctive responses, even when they aren't specifically related to our phenotypes...most people tend to ignore these things.
