Has anyone ever bought second hand tools? What is the procedure for cleansing them before use? Or can you use them for your own rituals right away?

CLEAN THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Phew, now that that was said:
Second hand tools are great! Once you clean them, Be sure to wash them both physically and magickally! Physically first, then magickally, then physically once more. Then dedicate and enchant to your likings as per needed by uses/tool.
Definatly clean them though! Even if its a tool given to you, it is still a needed process, even for new tools!
The only time there should be an exception for this is if it is a tool given directly to you by your master/teacher of arcane arts (any form of magick or occult, or arcane)

Running water and salt is a very simple way of cleaning tools. They even mention it in the big honking book o' crystals (which I can't remember the title of... But it's the big honking book... You know, the purpley one with the chick in the flowing robes on the cover?) No stream nearby? Turn on your sink. Tada! Running water The big honking book o' crystals has other ways listed... But the sink and salt way stuck in my head. I have a few meditation tools second hand. Mostly from a friend who's all "I think (insert item name here) is done with me... Wanna give it a whirl?"

I have a related question. What if someone gives you a blank book to use to create your own book of shadows? How do you clense something that shouldn't come in contact with water?

*racks brain* Set it on your windowsill for an entire mooncycle is one, I think. Bless it by passing it through incence.. And letting it soak up sunlight. Sunlight = Good light.

Thanks, although as it's to be used for nocturnal majik I think I'll leave it out to the moonlight and cover it with a small altar cloth during the day.

Mmm you can put it into white sand .... Then put the bowl with sand and item out in the moon... that should pull it out!
I know other methods..even methods that can make psychic leeches burst and burn..hehehe... but lets say that energy wise it is smart to use the path of the least resistance!
