If it were possible to get federal grants to do research to obtain documented proof that vampires as well as other mythological beings exist, what sort of proof would you want? What would be enough proof to convince you?

I think this is a very hard question to answer. Not knowing the technology avaliable to researchers right now, it's hard to say what "proof" would "work". So I'll address this question two ways.
One, the fact is, there are some people that you'll never convince, no matter what proof you have. I mean, there are still people who don't believe the Holocaust occured in the 1940's.
Two, sometimes there may be methods of verifying something through measurement. However, the tools we have accessable to us right now may not be able to do that. Let me explain my thought a little clearer. Over two hundred years ago (and before, of course), electricity existed. However, due to the lack of technology, there were no ways to measure it. Just because it could not be measured doesn't mean it didn't exist. My thought on this issue is similar. We might lack tools right now that would allow us to make measurements of things related to vampirism. However, just because we can't measure it now doesn't mean that it doesn't exist, nor does it mean it won't exist in the future.
Interesting idea, Mairi! Thanks for posting that line of thought!

One thing in relation to this gets me thinking. I've read a lot about scientific experiments that have been done through the ages trying to prove the existence of the soul. I know many vampires that believe their condition has more to do with spirituality than physicality. For those people I don't think there would be a way to produce definitive proof.

I have all the proof I need, have some evidence to back it up. Yet I am always on the look out for more.
