I am guilty of saving everything, well practically everything. I just know that if I throw it out I am going to need it within 10 days. So I have a storage unit full of stuff.
Anyone else a pack rat? And what is it that you save?

I'm really not too bad about keeping everything, but my parents sure are. I tried straightening up the attic the other day. It's a total disaster area, and I figured I could get it sorted out so at least when a holiday rolls around you can walk in spot the corresponding decorations fairly easily and haul them out without too much struggle. Well I was making some head way when my mom came home from work and noticed I was about to throw away a bag full of ragged, dusty old silk floral arrangements that were so old they were crumbling. She flipped out! I mean I would never toss anything important like the cedar chest that contains all of my grandmother's carefully preserved baby clothes, but really, who needs that many old silk flowers when they go and buy new ones every spring? You know what though, I've decided I'm going to use them when I make my decorations for Halloween next year. Hehehe, at least mom can't say I wasted them. Somehow two suitcases, a carry on, and my backpack turned into a pile of stuff that is steadily claiming every inch of my floorspace in my bedroom... And that's after throwing away a bag full of papers and other random things that I definately don't need... *sigh* And I still have my boxes of things back in NJ to get, too...

Ooooh, yeah. <G> Books, furniture, and...stuff. I have boxes full of stuff. When I've had to move in a hurry, stuff was thrown into boxes, boxes were tossed into storage, and there it is...I have no idea what all is in there. Broken things are usually thrown away....... Then, I'm married to a dragonkin, and he collects shell casings when we go up into the mountains, so he has boxes of shell casings in storage. Why? He claims that they can be sold for the copper... rofl.... Oh, and computer parts and old computers....lots of those, too.

I am most definitely a pack-rat. I have all kinds of romance books laying around my room and old catalogs and stuff even in my vehicle. My parents try to get me to get rid of the stuff but I can't... ;D

I tend to horde every single piece of paper that I've accumulated over the years. I suppose it's a good thing when it's receipts/pay statements etc. But I horde....didn't say I organized LOL
I also tend to horde books.
*hugs*

I tend to horde books and old movie posters, Patrick saves everything, he has even brought some things home that I can't figure out what the heck they are.

The whole issue that plaques all packrats is; If I throw it out now, I am going to need it within a week and won't have it. And its 90% true. So we hang onto to our stuff.

You're right, so I should keep the 1843 book on Artic Expeditions too LOL!!! What I usually do is if I find a box in my storage room, I peek inside, I quickly skim through it to see if there in anything vitally important or if it can all just go back into storage. If it can go back into storage, I dump the entire box in the dumpster and call it a day, and hope that slouch socks and LA Gears don't come back into style
