If we were immune to all dieases, our injuries healed immediately and never grew old, would you want to live forever? Why?

this is a good thought provoking question but my answer is like sigrids i wouldnt want to live forever ,having to watch everyone i love and grow to love die and me never getting to have eternal peace and slumber well thats just not fair i dont wanna see all my loved ones die before me never to experience the same fate ,,immortality is forever after all and forever is a long long long long long long long time .,not for me i wanna know when i die ill be loved and severely missed but they will know im always there in spirit

Ah man...good one...this is such a toughy. In one way i would just to see how this world would turn out...not that i would'nt know if i was on the other side anyways...but just to expierience it firsthand may be a little intriguing and fun. Sure i could have alot of fun being immortal...but after awhile it may seem more of a curse then a fantasy come true.
Then like Vampi has said...you'd have to deal with the hurt of losing loved ones and not knowing if you'll ever see them again at all. You'd be stuck here alone eventually and either start the whole soul searching all over again....or just become a souless creature wondering the earth.
Both have their temptations and is something i truly could'nt answer unless the oppurtunity was presented to me....and even then...it's something i could not come up with a quick answer about.

Like Grim, I am a bit curious about experiencing what is in store for this planet in the future and being immortal I would be around for the show.
Immortal sounds good to me, especially if I could have the body of my dreams. If I stayed the way I am now, not a chance in hell I would want to go through eternity with 20 pounds of extra baggage.

Lol....good one Winter...never thought of it in that kind of a woman's view. Come to think of it...not getting any older and more grey as the days go by would give a 1 up on the immortal side. Oh my...i think immortal has the lead!

Like most of you have already said...I wouldn't want to see my family and friends pass on and leave me behind to start the cycle over again with new faces.
On the other hand I'd be interested to see how far we get with space exploration and with technology in general that it would be very tempting to live forever.

I'd vote for the immortal aspect. I would definately be able to amass a lot of knowledge. Yes there is a downside on seeing friends and family pass away but what about the new people you meet.

I think I would like to be immortal. Think of all you could learn, not to forget all the new people you would meet. As for loved ones passing while you lived on, chances are that that could happen anyhow. The only hitch would be living forever in the body you have now.......however broken and damaged it might be.
Guess there are two sides to every coin.

Being immortal would be interesting, save a lot on having to buy the anti aging face creams or having to go on endless diets. LOL It would have its downsides too, like having to pay bills forever.

I'd grow tired and weary of the overly recycled world, everything would be like old hat.

HELL, yes, sign me up. <lol>
Friends and family will die? Of course they will, but let's get real...you're going to see most of them die ANYHOW, before YOU kick the bucket at age 80 or whatever. How's it going to make it easier, just because you didn't have the privelege of peeing in your Depends and following them shortly?
I'm in the knowledge-amassment fan club, too...there's SO much to learn....you could never, ever run out of things to learn. Boredom is a personal mental issue, not something imposed by lack of things to see and do. There is ALWAYS more to see and do. I LIKE being alive.

i would love to immortal, because i would have time to think and watch those who will suffer as i walk by, not giving a second look, or even care because emotions are wat shortens your life, and being an immortal that shows emotions doesnt deserve to see the end and beyond, because that will only bring suffering to them as well.

<g> I'm not Mr. Spock, though I admire the man. I have reverence for emotions, and I feel they are a valuable part of life's experiences. It is emotion that drives us to continue, to learn, and to do. Without the emotion of curiousity, what is the point of learning? Without the emotion of joy, why take part in any activity? Emotions compel our actions. I think the emotion that would be involved in watching others walk by and considering that you are lucky you will not suffer as they will would be pride. Otherwise, you wouldn't have reason to think of it at all. Ironically, a person who truly has no emotions wouldn't care that others do...because caring requires emotion. Desire requires emotion, too--without the desire to live, such a person would soon perish. Why would it be logical to continue on? Goals require passion--passion is emotional.

We DO live forever, just not in one body. As for the notion of living forever in this vessel, never dying, always remaining the ME I am now, in this human form, no thanks! As of now, 33 years in, I can assure you i'm looking forward to a new set of skin and experiences after this incarnation ;D
One life in one set of skin would just be boring, and stagnant. Great question, thanks for asking it!

But, if i was restricted to only one shell for all eternity i would not show any emotion, though i show emotion now, i dont show any but anger and saddness, for that is all i know, i try to stay in the shadows so that i am not bothered to show what feeling and emotions i have, and all the times i walk in the shadows i feel a calm inside but without expression.
now that i think of it, being immortal would drive me to insanity.
