Really otherkin means anyone who feels they are not human, and even vamps are usually lumped under that umbrella.
Some use it only to refer to "mythicals" though.

As in "other than" right? Ok, I think I get it. I have read a lot of posts saying that they are not, or feel they are not "human", yet they do not consider themselves to be kin, or some kin who do not consider themselves as other-kin... to damn confusing it you ask me. I figured the term "Other-kin" would mean something that is other than human and the kin part ment we all fall within that family. grrrr!! I think the problem is, sometimes people take themselves and things way to seriously Elix

So, the question I would pose, is there some sort of test? Is there like a diagnostic model one could use to identify what one's parahuman condition is? It took me seven years to embrace Vampirism. :'( I am fairly confident there are other components in here, but what? So again, is there some sort of diagnostic test? :-/

I am an angel kin psion myself.
for those wondering what they are...be patient it takes time..and you'll figure it out. it actually took me longer to reconcile with myself what i was...because i didnt want to believe it...
telling people you're an angelic to me seemed kind of pompus at the time. i had to get over myself in order to accept what i was.

I know a lot of kin who have to 'get over themselves'... I am a faekin, with "feathery fluffy yet butterfly-transparent" wings..I think I might possibly be angelkin as well, or something, I don't know. I'm also empathic and have a crystal aura, I guess. And I'm just plain weird. I've also been told I'm faeblood... o.O ...*shrugs*

It took me seven years to embrace Vampirism. :'( I am fairly confident there are other components in here, but what? So again, is there some sort of diagnostic test? :-/ Unfortunately there are no "tests" that one could take to determine what they are if anything. Some lists are just way to general. Any person in the world could have 1 or more of the traits given at any given time. I did a list of common elven traits. These were things I saw within myself that *I* believed to make me elf-kin. So I took 10 or so of the most prominent traits and asked all other kin to compare it to themselves, if they were elf-kin, or to those they knew that were elf-kin. After a few revisions and plenty of disclaimers I have a pretty secure but short list that I am confident of. Again, with tons of disclaimers, the list does not mean you are an elf, it's just an outline that may help you discover yourself faster. If I were to advise anyone who wanted to do a list, I would say do it as I did. Chose one "species". Watch what they do, what makes them that kin type and how is it similar to others of the same kin type? Then survey survey survey, when done revise and edit, then post a ton of disclaimers... kin are touchy, and that's a fact :) And make sure the list is specific. Like the list for Indigos: You may be indigo if you were creative as a child. OK, creative how, whose opinion? See what I mean? Hope this helps... Now to use spell check :) hee hee, had to fix 7 words Tata

These all have been extremely interesting responces with a good follow up question or two thrown in for spice. I am an empathic Vampire my main source of feeding is strong sexual emotion.I do have elfish tendecies but not nearly enough to say I'm elf my tendecies come from my high respect of nature.the animal I feel most connected to is the Grizzly Bear. :PPEACE OUT

Ooohhh...a Pan... never actually met one! Welcome... I am elf-kin, arrogant and adorable as all are. Pleasure to meet you.
From what I remember, the Pan would fall under the fey races, please check our fairy and elves board. I do not have much info posted there in regards to Pans and it would be nice to have some.
